- Herbert "Bill" W. Young
Herbert "Bill" W. Young, age 71 resident of Spiceland, passed away Sunday evening at Glen Oaks Health Campus.
He was born March 18, 1938 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Herbert W. and Lucille Jones Young.
He attended Manual High School in Indianapolis and graduated from high school while serving with the U.S. Army. He served with the army from 1955-1965 during which he was stationed in Germany and South Korea and was the recipient of many Military Awards and Recognition. He also served an enlistment with the Indiana Army National Guard, stationed in New Castle. He was a former member of the American Legion. He was a resident of Spiceland since 1966 and was a member of A.A.R.P. He was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church where he was active in the 55 plus ministry. He retired from Modernfold Industry in 2000 after 34 years of service. He was very involved with his family's activities, fishing, traveling, and going to the "Boat" in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Donna Jean Truitt Young whom he married November 16, 1962; 2 daughters: Diana Kay Jones (husband Robert) of New Castle and Andrea Sue Young of Spiceland; 2 grandchildren: Dustin Young (fiance Lindsey Jones) of Spiceland and Alaina Supinger (husband Brian) of New Castle; 1 step grandson: Robbie Jones of New Castle; 1 great-grandson: Kaidan Supinger of New Castle; 1 step grandson: Ethan Supinger of New Castle; 2 sisters: Yvonne Young of Davies, Florida and Barbara Brown of Indianapolis; 1 brother: Robert Young and wife of Indianapolis; 1 aunt: Carole Hogue of Indianapolis; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; 1 brother-in-law, Larry Steele.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Patty Steele.
Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Lomison officiating. Burial will follow at Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Macer-Hall Funeral Directors Mike Ragan, Sam Hall, and Gary Hall will conduct the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion and the V.F.W.
