Cali Andrist's Obituary
Cali Andrist's Obituary
Cali Dee Andrist, 58, a resident of Rialto for most of her life, passed away Friday, March 9 in Burbank California. Born at March Air Force Base, Cali was the daughter of Earl Wayne Andrist and Evelyn Virginia Young Andrist, past President of P.A.R.T., Inc. (Parents Association for Retarded Trainables), and had been living in Valley Village with her brother since 2003. Everyone who knew Cali, loved her joyful and perpetual youth. She loved trips to the beach with her sister, animals, music and musical theater, and loved to sing and dance. Many became fond of her "Cali-isms," and found them incorporating them into their daily speech without even realizing it. She will be sorely missed, but her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is free from the restrictions life imposed on her and is having a grand party with her mother and sister Linda, who passed before her. Cali is survived by her sister, Hollie Andrist, of Highland, her brother, Eric Andrist, of Valley Village, and his partner, Jeff Rizzo (who Cali always considered her "boyfriend"). She will be cremated and no services are scheduled. The family can be emailed at july1962@aol.com

"Though her words are simple and few, listen, listen, she's calling to you..." from one of Cali's favorite movies, "Mary Poppins."

Charlotte Catt Walts Obituary 2

Charlotte Catt Walts

Aged Winslow Lady, Widow of the Late John Walts Died at Her Home After Long Illness

Mrs. Charlotte Catt Walts, widow of the late John Walts, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nola M. Bottom, in Winslow, at 11:30 o'clock Friday night, the 17th inst., as the result of a stroke of apoplexy. She was sick but one day.

Charlotte CAtt was the daughter of the late Amos and Mary Morgan Catt and was born in Clay township on the 22nd day of January, 1849, having reached the advanced age of 88 years 10 months and 25 days. She received such schooling as the schools of the vicinity offered and had the advantage of rearing in a fine home as her family was one of the best that ever lived in this county.

On the 2nd day of March, 1871, she was united in marriage to John Walts, a fine young farmer of the neighborhood, and the following children of that union survive, Mrs. Nola B. Bottom, Ollie Be Walts, Grover C. Walts, Miss Tina Walts, all of near Winslow, and MRs. Wesley Welton, of Petersburg. One son, Norman B., preceded his mother to the grave and the husband died some 8 or 9 years ago.

Mrs. Walts had been a member of the church at Pleasant Ridge for the past many years and throughout her long and useful life had lived up to the professions of her faith and had been a devoted servant of the Master and a neighbor and friend whose value to the community was beyond estimate. A woman who stood for all the better things she lived the sort of life that is an encouragement and an inspiration to all who knew her. Of the sturdy pioneer stock that first made their homes in the wilderness she had no patience with ways of life that were not in accordance witht he teachings of her earlier days and of her church.

The funeral services were conducted at Pleasant Ridge church by the Rev. C. W. Parks at 10 o'clock Monday morning, the 20th inst., and the body was laid to rest in Walnut Hills cemetery. Harris and Soas were the undertakers in charge.

Deceased was Charlotte T. Catt, a daughter of Amos and Mary Morgan Catt. She was born in Clay township January 22, 1849, having reached the age of 88 years, 10 months and 25 days. Her early life was spent in the community of her birth where she attended the schools of the time and on March 2, 1871 was united in marriage to John W. Walts and they lived happily together until his death in 1925. For some time after their marriage, they lived on a farm west of Petersburg, later moving to Crawford county where they remained until 1879 when they moved back to the same community in this county and there they continued to live until 1924 when they moved to Winslow which was ever after their home and it was in the Winslow home where Mr. Walts died.

She was converted in early life and lived a true christian throughout her long and useful life. It was her greatest pleasure when she could be of service to her family and friends and she shirked, no duty and passed no chance to devote her life to their service and in an effort to make them happy and contented.

Six children were born to her, five of whom survive. A son Norman preceded her. The survivors are Oliver B. and Grover C. Walts, of Petersburg, Mrs. James B.
