- William John Layden (Bill) died June 19, 2011. He was born February 1, 1921 in Kansas City, Kansas.
He served in WWII as a Navy carrier pilot and spent 21 years in the Navy Reserve. He was a graduate of Pepperdine College and USC and taught school for 25 years. After his retirement he worked at the MCLB golf course.
Surviving Bill are his wife of 52 years, Julia; son, Ban; daughter-in-law, Kate; granddaughter, Jordan; sisters, Betty Ambrosi of Gardina, Calif., and Peggy Moore of Spokane, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Helen Layden; and brothers, Thomas and LeRoy; and sister, Mary Ambrosi. S
ervices will be private. Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Barstow VNA-Hospice, 222 E. Main St., Suite 112, Barstow, CA. 92311.
