Thomas Bernard Downey, eldest son of John and Nora Downey was born at Pottersville, Pa., Sept. 8, 1864 and died at his home in Glasco July 28, 1940 after an illness of several weeks at the age of 75 years and 10 months.
He came to this community with his parents in 1870 where he grew to manhood. He engaged in farming and had lived for the past 32 years on the home place north of Glasco.
On May 5, 1890 he was united in marriage to Miss Nora Conner. To this union these sons and daughters were born: Frances (sic) of Glasco, Mrs. Mabel Horn of Salina; Wilma who died in infancy; Mrs. Lola Herbin of Jamestown; George of Glasco and Paul who preceded him in death, six years ago. He also leaves these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Paul of Kansas City; Mrs. Johanna Loftus and Mrs. Ella Murray of Jamestown; and Mrs. Margaret LsRocque of Bradley, Ill. Two sisters, Mrs. Julia Henry of Glasco and Miss Theresa Downey preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted July 30 at St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. Father Duchene of Concordia officiating at the requiem Mass and interment was in the St. Mary's cemetery.
