- Milburn's father was Joseph, (Jody), Ross and his mother was Mary Matilla. He had one brother, Harold Ross.
Milburn M. Ross attended Kansas State University but didn't graduate. He was a fireman on the Union Pacific
Railroad when he was a young man. Following marriage to Carrie, he moved to Chicago, Ill. where he worked
as a draftsman. He later worked for the U. S. Engineers in Omaha. and Hastings. Nebraska. Milburn then
moved to Wichita. Kansas and went to work for Stearing Aircraft, (which later became Boeing) and Beechcraft
Aircraft where he was Head of the Tooling Department. After leaving the aircraft factories, Milburn started
his own business. "Ross Engineering & Equipment Co.", in Wichita, Ks. He was the inventor of the "Reeco
Pump Jack". with pivoting horsehead which was used for oil wells. He had invented and had many patents on
his "Maxi-Lift" oil well pump jack. Milburn passed away from a heart attack, September 5, 1969. He is buried
at Forest Hill Cemetery. Kansas City. MO next to his parents. His funeral service was at the Fulton-Nickel
Funeral Home in Kansas City. KS.
