	BICKNELL, Ind. -- Daniel Francis Hatfield, 82, died Monday morning at his home. He retired in 1963 from Hoover Ball Bearing Johnson Controls. He was a member of Bicknell First Christian Church and was a World War II Navy veteran. Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Judith Smith; two daughters, Sara Jane Schlomer of LaGrange, Ga., and Shirley Mae Hatfield of Las Vegas; two stepdaughters, Denise Groves of Graham, Ky., and Gerry Smith of Bicknell; a sister, Elizabeth Nocus of Freelandville; a brother, Clarence of Vincennes; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His first wife, Ruby Shouse, died in 1982. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wampler-Shaw Chapel, with burial in Oaktown Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
