- Service for Park Springs native Hattie Lee Hipp, 87, was held Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home chapel, followed by burial at East Bridgeport Cemetery.
The Rev. Raymond Horne officiated. Pallbearers were Bud James, Eddie Culpepper, John Henry Adams, Joe Coursey, Jamie Hipp, Michael Hipp and James Sermon. Honorary pallbearer was Joe Lee Coursey.
She was born April 20, 1900 in Park Springs. She married William Russell Hipp July 13, 1917 in Wichita Falls. They lived in Decatur in the 1930s. She and her husband transferred their membership to the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport in 1940.
She died July 11 at a local hospital after a long illness. She had been living for five years at a local nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, John Russell Hipp.
Survivors include her sons, Louie F. Hipp of Fort Worth, W. Harold Hipp of Farmington, NM and Darrell Lee Hipp of Roswell, NM; daughter Derestine Rohus of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Michael, David, Ricky, Rusty and Jamie Hipp, Debbie Strittmatter and Paula Kay Rohus; and several great-grandchildren.
