- A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Bueler Mortuary, Chandler, Ariz., for former longtime McMinnville school teacher Valva Dorree Just of Phoenix, Ariz.
Mrs. Just died July 30, 2004, in Dobson Hospice House in Chandler, Ariz. She was 61.
She was born Jan. 14, 1943, in McClean, Texas, daughter of Nadine and J.O. Leflet.
Mrs. Just was a teacher and in school administration for 32 years in McMinnville before moving to Arizona. She earned her doctorate from the University of Oregon in 1997 and was principal of Landmark Middle School in Glendale, Ariz. She loved reading, shopping and hiking on South Mountain.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Just of Phoenix, Ariz., and Randy Just of Columbia, Md.; her mother, Nadine Ertel, and stepfather, Richard Ertel, of Apache Junction, Ariz.; three sisters, Deana McGuffey of Cedar Glen, Calif., Valisa Woodell of Corapeak, N.C., and Verda Tyus of Apache Junction; a brother, Zerone Leflet of Dutch John, Utah; and two granchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail Just.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley in Arizona.
