- WAKEFIELD — Mrs. Matt
Koivula, 88, Brotherton Location, Wakefield, died Thursday at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility here where she had been a patient since Aug. 7, 1973.
She was born June 5, 1885 in Kauhava, Vaasan Laani, Finland, and attended school in Finland. She came to the United States and to Wakefield at the age of 18 and on Feb. 11, 1911 she married here to Matt Koivula, who died Oct. 27, 1945.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elna Lindy and Mrs. Mildred Baker, Portage, Ind.. and Mrs. Ellen Rintamaki, Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A son, Oiva, died April 4, 1970.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m , Saturday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Kuusisto Officiating. Entombment will be at Lakeside Mausoleum for spring burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
Lakeside Memorial Chapel will open for visitation at 5 this afternoon. The remains will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Saturday to lie in state until time of services.
