Stern Cemetery

The Stern Cemetery is located south of May Hill (Scott Township) on road T196. It is within the Tranquility Wildlife Area and its coordinates are N 38 degrees 59.837 minutes and W 083 degrees and 31.123 minutes. My g-grandmother Ellen Stern Caplinger is buried there as well as several generations of the Stern family, including Joseph Stern (1857-1835) a Revolutionary War veteran (5 CO 4 BN PA MILITIA). For several years, there was a posted letter attached to a cedar tree that there was a grave of a small child from a wagon train that had died while in the area and was buried there.
