Wade William Williams Obituary
Funeral services for William W. Williams Sr. Will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Straube Funeral Home with the Rev. James L. Nettleton, pastor of St. John's Methodist Church, officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted at Valley View Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Williams, 84, a retired farmer of Poag Road, Route 1, died Wednesday at 8 p.m. at John Cochran Veterans Hospital, St. Louis. He had been hospitalized three days.
Born April 13, 1880 in Pikeville, Ind. he was the son of Thomas S. And Sarah A. Marshall Williams. He was married to Anna Hull on Oct 15, 1910 at Folsomville, Ind.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, William W. Jr. of Poag Road, Thomas E. And Malcolm R. of Milwaukee, Wis.; one daughter, Mrs. Emil (Clara) Troyan of Wood River; two brothers, Oscar H. and William P. Williams, both of Vandalia; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Williams had served as a sergeant in the Spanish-American War. He was a member of the Granite City VFW Post 1300.
