Boy Wreckers Known

Youngsters who put spike on track in juvenile court.

Intention was not to wreck train but to see what spike would look life (sic) after train passed.

The identity of the boys who placed the spike on the Missouri Pacific railroad track last Sunday night which resulted in wrecking the Colorado Express at the Ninth street crossing has been learned and the boys will be haled beffore Juvenile Judge Supple at 4 o'clock this afternoon. They are Leonard Hoyt, Frank Carrier, Vivian Mayfield, Bryan Cherry, Paul Andrist and Howard Callery. The two latter will be used as witnesses against the others.

Their apprehension was effected by Detective Williams of the Missouri Pacific, who has been working on the case several days, and Undersheriff Heck, who assisted him.

The boys denied their guilt, but finally one of them broke down and later all confessed. They said they only placed the spike on the rails to see what the engine would do to it. They had been placing pins and small nails on the rails and believed the weight of the engine would be sufficient to smash the spike. They were greatly frightened when they learned that they had caused the derailment of the train.
