Boys Are Tried For Wrecking Train
The trial of Lenoard (sic) Hoyt, Frank Carrier, Vivian Mayfield, Bryan Cherry, Paul Andrist and Howard Callery is progressing in juvenile court today before Judge Supple.
The boys are charged with wrecking a Missouri Pacific passenger train at the Ninth street crossing a few evenings ago, the engine being derailed. The boys denied their guilt at first, but later admitted the same, stating that they had simply placed a spike on the rails to see the shape it would be in after the heavy engine passed over it.
Detective Williams of the Missouri Pacific succeeded in capturing the boys. They appeared before the court yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock and at 6 o'clock court adjourned until this morning. All morning was taken up with the trial.
The boys are being defended by Attorney Corder. They seem greatly frightened at the thought that they wrecked a train.
