- Elizabeth Pollett Drye Cody, 58, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Cody was born June 6, 1953, in Stuttgart, to the late Lanco and Minnie Hoover Drye. She was reared and received her education in Pine Bluff, where she graduated from Pine Bluff High School.
She married Bill Cody on March 22, 1983, in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Cody owned and operated a child daycare center for several years, often referred to as “Mrs. Lizzie” by the children. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, nana and aunt. Her memory will forever live in our hearts and her time with us forever treasured.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Cody of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Paula Burlison of Pine Bluff; a son, Casey Cody and his wife, Tuesday of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Kadie and Kolten Burlison, and Aubrey Cody; a great-grandchild, Landon Holcomb; four brothers, Joe Drye of Carlisle, Dean (Sissy) Drye of Carlisle, Clarence (Connie) Drye of North Carolina, and Danuel (Berta) Drye of Missouri; and five sisters, Regina “Gina” Drye of Carlisle, Doris (Gary) Fortenberry of Dumas, Trudy Drye (Rick Gazo) of Carlisle, Minnie Nell Hodnett of Carlisle, and Deborah Gresham of Pine Bluff; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cody was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leon Drye, and a sister, Carolyn Bell.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Robinson’s.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 1, 2011, 2:00 PM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Tim Ramey and Reverend Josh Drye officiating. Interment will follow in Fitzhugh Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Paula Burlison.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Hospice Angels and a special thanks to nurses Tonia and Miss Ella for the loving care given to Mrs. Cody for the last four years.
The family has requested that memorials take the form of contributions to Hospice Angels, 3801 Camden Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
