Philomena Rizzo Ardo Obituary Mrs. Philomena (Fannie) DeCarciofolo Ardo, 54, of 929 Rutger St., died yesterday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was born in Utica, daughter of Frank and Assunta Ambrose Rizzo. She was educated in Utica schools and lived in Utica her entire lifetime. She was a member of St. Mary of Count Carmel Church. She married Peter DeCarciofolo in 1930. He died in Utica in 1960. She was married to Joseph Ardo in 1961.
Mrs. Ardo was a member of the St. Anne Society of the Church and a member of the SS Cosmo and Damiano Society Inc. She was also a member of the Greater Utica Opera Guild and the Oneida County Hospital at Broadacres Guild.
Besides her husband and her father, in Utica, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Rosemarie) Pompi, Syracuse, and Mrs. Sylvester (Susan) Rivers, Miami, Fla.; two sons, Rosario De Carciofolo, and Peter Carciofolo, both of Syracuse; a stepson, Frank Ardo, Utica, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Alfinito, Fort Dix, N.J.; four brothers, Rocco Rizzo, new York City, Pasquale Rizzo, Sacramento, Calif. Dominick and Michael Rizzo, both of Utica; two sisters, Mrs. Peter (Marion) Tenenini, and Mrs. Daniel (Rose) Cotrupe, both of Utica.
The funeral will be Monday at 8:30 from the Matt Funeral Home, and in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church where a solemn requiem Mass wil be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hartford.
Members of St. Anne's and the SS Cosmo and Damiano Societies will convene at the funeral home Sunday evening at 7:30 for prayer services.
Calling hours at the funeral home are tonight from 7 to 9, tomorrow and Sunday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9. |
