- May 6, 1999: "Funeral services for Nora E. Turner, 96, Ava, will be held at 2 P.M. today (Thursday) at Clinkingbeard Chapel with Pastor Charlie Hannaford officiating. Burial will be in Thornfield Cemetery.
A resident of Ava for most of her life, Mrs. Turner died at 12:05 P.M. May 3, 1999, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Ava, following a short illness.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon General Baptist Church.
Born Sept. 5, 1902, at Thornfield, she was the daughter of John L and Margaret Eddings Jennings. She married Chesley A. Turner on March 6, 1921, at Thornfield. He preceded her in death November 29, 1986.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Kenneth Ray; one grandson, Kevin; and one granddaughter, Judy, as well as two daughters-in-law; six sisters; and seven brothers.
Surviving are sons, Orville Turner and wife, Hazel, Taneyville; Robert L. Turner, Ava, and Clinton Turner and wife, Neva, Ontario, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Naomi Walker, Loraine Barber and Daisey Turner; and brothers-in-law, Trellis Turner and Basil Simpson."
