Orville Monroe "O.M." Turner, 83, of Taneyville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
He was born Oct. 14, 1922, the son of Chesley and Nora (Jennings) Turner, in Thornfield.
O.M. married Hazel Yvonne Clayton on May 2, 1942, in Forsyth, and they enjoyed more than 63 years together.
He served in the armed forces during World War II and was a life member of VFW Post 5993 of Ava.
Orville was a lifelong businessman of Taney County and a member of the General Baptist Church of Bradleyville.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel, of the home; three sons, Jerry Turner and wife, Joan, Ozark, Gail Turner and Connie, of Aurora, and Tony Turner and Patti, of Powersite; one daughter, Debbie Wilkey and husband, Jim, of Forsyth; two brothers, Bob Turner, of Columbia, and Clinton Turner, of Ontario, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m., at the Forsyth Whelchel Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at the New Blair Cemetery at Bradleyville with full military honors."
