Joan Rizzo Obituary
Sacramento—Joan D. Rizzo, 53, died March 24 at Kaiser-Permanent Clinic, Sacramento, California. Mrs. Rizzo, a native of Utica, formerly resided at 37 Brookline Dr. before moving to Sacramento in 1964.
A graduate of Utica Free Academy, Mrs. Rizzo attended Utica College, and was a former executive secretary at McClelland Air Force Base, Sacramento, Calif. She was an active volunteer coordinator with the American Cancer Society for the Banking Project in Sacramento County. The Banking Project is designed to inform men as well as women about the importance of self-examination as a safeguard against breast cancer.
Surviving are her husband, Pasquale "Pat" Rizzo of Sacramento; a son, Jeffrey J. Rizzo, Burbank, Calif; a sister, Clarice D. Schaeffer, Liverpool, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, March 30 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with REv. P. Arthur Brindisi, Pastor Emeritus officiating. Interment at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Rizzo. Funeral arrangements are with the Surridge & Jacobson Memorial Home, In., 2212 Genesee St., Utica. |
