- James Alfred Baker Sr., 73, Overland Park, a former oil company executive, died Feb. 27, 1991, at the home.
Mr. Baker worked for the Phillips Petroleum Co. for 43 years, retiring as a vice president in 1980. He was past director of the Kansas Association of Commerce and Industry. He received a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Kansas.
He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the Kaw Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite bodies and Abdallah Shrine. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Order of the Amaranth and the White Shrine of Jerusalem, all in Bartlesville, Okla. He was a past member of the Kansas City Club and the Brookridge Country Club.
He was a member of the Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church. He was born in Kansas City, Kan., and lived in Bartlesville from 1948 until he returned to this area in 1970. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite "Peggy" Baker of the home; a son, Stephen Lynn Baker, Leawood; three brothers, William R. Baker, Toluca Lake, Calif., and Ray T. Baker Jr. and Patrick Joseph Baker of Kansas City, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Newcomer's Overland Park Chapel; private entombment in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens Cemetery mausoleum. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the church.
