- Louis N. "Buster" Just of Platteville died at Longmont United Hospital on Sunday, June 17, 2007. He was 83.
Buster was born October 21, 1923, in Salina, Kansas, to Frank and Gertrude (Phillips) Just. He grew up and attended school in Salina where he graduated in 1942. He then attended one year of classes at Kansas Wesleyan University. Buster then entered the United States Navy. He served for six years as a gunner"s mate during World War II. He was able to travel around the world in the Navy and served as an aide to Admiral Byrd on his expeditions to the South Pole.
After the service, Buster returned to the Salina area where he worked as a sheet metal worker for Globe and Boyer"s Sheet Metal. He moved to the Longmont area in 1962 where he worked for Natkin Construction. Buster married Jeannette Landolt in Boulder on October 21, 1971. Buster enjoyed fishing, camping and farming. He spent many hours on his tractor and backhoe helping his neighbors.
Mr. Just was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy Terzian, and brother, Gail Just.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette of Platteville, CO; four daughters, April Boyer (Dennis) of Littleton, CO, Becky Rageth of Salina, KS, Cheri Smock (Barry) of Lindsborg, KS, and Dena Starnes (Ray), also of Lindsborg; five brothers, Jack Just (Norma) of Garden City, KS, Frank Just (Darlene) of Ft. Collins, CO, Vernon Just (Judy) of Wichita, KS, Glen Just (Jane) of Phoenix, AZ, and Gary Just of Costa Rica; a sister, Doris Keith of McMinnville, OR; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont on Tuesday, June 19, 2007. Funeral services will be held in Salina, Kansas, on Thursday, June 21, at 11:30 a.m. at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina. A memorial service will be held in Longmont on Tuesday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Howe Mortuary.
