A gathering will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, in the Watertrough Saloon for Alvin Ronald Hess of Portland, who died Oct. 17 from injuries suffered in a July kick-bike accident at age 76.
Alvin Ronald Hess was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Portland and moved to Glenwood in 1940. He graduated from Forest Grove High School and served in the Navy. In 1958, he returned to Portland, where he was a truck driver, retiring from USF Reddaway. In 1955, he married Virginia Williams; they divorced. He married Eleanor Hixon Boley in 1975.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Shari Ann and Deby Welfringer; son, Gary A.; stepsons, Richard J. Boley and Steven K. Boley; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Arrangements by Oregon Cremation.
