- Margaret Anderson was born on February 15, 1924, in Redlands, Ca. to Vernon and Gladys Evans. She passed away in Visalia Ca., on November 26, 2009, at the age of 85 of respiratory failure.
Margaret married William Harrison Anderson on May 15, 1948, in Highland, Ca. The couple made their home first in Highland, then moved to Bakersfield, Coalinga, and finally Ivanhoe, Ca. He preceded her in death in 1996. Margaret then moved to Visalia, Ca.
Margaret worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years working for Dr. Savage in Highland, Dr. Almklov in Bakersfield, Coalinga Hospital, and Dr. Brauner in Visalia. She became a public health nurse for the county of Tulare in 1966 and worked there until her retirement.
Margaret enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, camping, and taking care of her grandchildren. Her lifelong passion was her commitment to Girl Scouting. She was a troop leader in Bakersfield and Visalia.. She enjoyed being camp nurse at Camp Mountain Meadows out of Bakersfield and for scouting days camps. She was the service unit manager for Visalia troops, as well as, a board member for the Golden Valley Girl Scout Council. She headed up the camping committee for the council and fought to keep Camp El-O-Win above Fresno from being sold.
Survivors include her son, Paul Anderson (Caren), Visalia; Daughter, Laurie Anderson (Robert Libow), Venice, CA; Sister, Allie Tegner, Palos Verdes Rancho, CA; grandchildren, Rebecca Libow, Charlie Libow, Wesley Anderson, and Margaret Anderson and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was loved and will be missed by all.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 5th at noon, Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.
