- Dominick Rizzo, 82, of Utica, passed away on April 10, 2009, at the Heritage Health Care Center. He was born on September 18, 1926 in Utica, the son of the late Frank and Assunta Ambruso Rizzo. He graduated from Proctor High School and also served in the United States Army. Dominick was a man with great character and wit. He could recite any Barbara Fritchie poem and sing any patriotic song. He also was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan and enjoyed watching these games with his brother,, Mike. His last year was extra special by reuniting with all of his family and friends. His family meant the world to him and always came first. He shared a special bond with all nine siblings. He never forgot his beginnings on Rutger St. He is survived by his devoted brother, Michael and his wife, Candy, and their children, Carissa and Michael, with whom he resided for the last year. He also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Peter Tenenini, and a brother-in-law, Daniel Cotrupe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews of the Rizzo Family, Frank, Keitha, Toni Marie, Patricia, Claudia, Jeffrey, Rosemary, Sue, Daniel, Diane, Frank, Richard, Luann, Sue, and Michele. He also leaves a special niece, Patty Haynes, and a special nephew, Frank Acquaviva and wife, Lucille. We thank them both for all their love and support of Dick during this last year. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 10:00 at St. Mark's Church. His family will receive visitors after Mass.
