- Glendon R. Fosholdt Sunday, January 15, 2006, Glendon R. Fosholdt left his earthly shell to join God in heaven.
Mary, his beloved wife of more than 50 years, preceeded him by nearly 3 years. Glen is survived by one daughter, Sharon Baker; three grandchildren, Janna Morris, Cindy Olszewski, and Ken McNamara; and one great-grandchild, Kevin Olszewski. He is also survived by his 2 nieces, Allene Symons and Laurie Biggs and 2 nephews, Stanley Fosholdt and Larry Fosholdt.
Glen was a well known businessman in the Long Beach area. He was President and owner of Children's Booteries, Inc. He helped many children overcome foot and leg disorders. Mr. Fosholdt wrote 2 books on the problems of children's feet and legs and how to fit the correct shoes, splints and bars to shoes to straighten out limbs and give afflicted children a better life. His books were used by several medical schools and Mr. Fosholdt also taught shoe fitters in the greater L.A. area how to address the problems of childr en's foot and leg disorders by working with many local physicians.
In addition, Glen donated his time to the Hospital Ship Hope at the Port of Long Beach. In his walk with the Lord, Glen and his family chose to attend Bethany Church in Long Beach. They began attending Bethany around 1955 and enjoyed taking part in helping build each new facility. He counted his Bethany friends as family. Glen, like his wife Mary, loved to write poetry.
This followed the many business articles he wrote for local newspapers a nd periodicals. Over 28 poems have been printed and his short pieces about a Guardian Angel, trips he and his wife took along with other themes have always included his most important figure, God. He said recently that was how he shared his Christianity with others. Mr. Folsholdt lived in the Long Beach area of Los Altos for over half a century. Glen at age 95 is at rest.
